Research of Maria Fernanda Montiel-González highlighted by the New England Journal of Medicine.

Maria Fernanda Montiel-Gonzalez, a Ph.D. Student in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus published an article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. See (http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2013/10/08/1306243110 ).

Maria Fernanda’s investigation was conducted in the laboratory of her Ph.D. advisor, Dr. Joshua Rosenthal, at the Institute of Neurobiology. “The publication has received national attention and was highlighted by the New England Journal of Medicine as a significant step toward making a reality the repair of specific mistakes in the protein-making machinery of patients using nanomachines” said Dr. Rosenthal, praising the talent of his doctoral student and the benefits of collaborative research.
